At the beginning of the 2018 spring season, the Wichita State University Rowing Team starts out their competitions inside on machines that track their distance. Tanner Shirk has been on the shocker rowing team for three years. He says its been one of the best decisions he made. A new boathouse is in the process of being built on the Big Arkansas River. A new 12′ x 242′ dock will anchor this facility to the river and help improve the efficiency of the program by allowing for high volume usage. This facility includes over 7,000 sq. ft of heated shell storage, men and women’s locker rooms, maintenance area and other amenities to help Shocker Rowing continue to move toward being the top ACRA program in the nation. The team will be rowing on the river starting in April.
Plans for the new boathouse currently in the process of being built on the Big Arkansas River.
